Event Details

The Eight Mile Boulevard Association, the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce and the Woodward Avenue Action Association are partnering for the third straight year to create an innovative, regional, one-day event entitled Clean the D. The goal of Clean the D is to improve the quality of life and landscape of metro-Detroit in the communities bordering Eight Mile Road and Woodward Avenue. This year, we plan to reach out to other groups within those communities; such as schools, Blight Busters, business groups, who have a vested interest in such improvement and may have a specific project for which they would like to solicit volunteers. Motor City Connect, V8, Motor City Makeover, and parents and students of Marion High School have already come on board to assist with the effort and we anticipate rallying 300-400 volunteers to work on 10-15 projects throughout the area. Types of projects may include roadside and park clean ups; painting and graffiti removal; brush removal and flower planting.

Schedule of Events:

8:30 am - 9:00 am - Check-in at designated project sites. Volunteers receive t-shirts and equipment

9:00 am - 12:00 pm - Clean-up at various sites

12:00 - 1:00 pm - Volunteer Appreciation Picnic or Lunches at select sites.

Although details are still pending, they are looking to clean debris, plant flowers, pull weeds, plant grass seed and wash windows in an effort to give back to those organizations.
